Are you parenting kids who are extraordinary?
If your child has been diagnosed with a developmental difference like ADHD, giftedness, high functioning autism (HFA/Asperger’s), or learning disabilities, the resulting struggles with anxiety, depression, and behaviors mean that you are parenting the extraordinary. Extraordinary kids require parents who can bend with the changes. My goal is to help parents and caregivers learn to bend in ways that help the child grow and thrive and to lessen the stress and struggle for you and your child. Bend or Break is a place where you can explore information on personal experiences, and advice for the journey of raising our amazing, and sometimes frustrating children. This job can be rewarding, but it is also overwhelming at times, and because I get it, I will never talk down to you or diminish either your challenges or your wins. We are in the trenches trying, learning, hoping, and making real and positive changes. Here we will challenge the norm, the academic, and the accepted. You’ll hear opinions, thoughts, and theories, but more importantly you will hear practices. The things I have tried, the things many have tried, that really work, not just in the moment, but for the long haul. We live real life every day, not some idea from a book or a study. Real life means practice in the real world. In my blogs I hope you find something you can use, and more importantly, I hope to inspire flexibility and flow in everyday life. And don’t forget to subscribe for the latest blog articles fresh from the keyboard!
